Cyclone Evan

Well, because of Cyclone Evan, school was closed for just two days. This hurricane really scared my mom. Really. Luckily, Evan didn't hit us.

Before the storm was supposed to hit, the whole family(except my dad, who wasn't really worried.. wow...) went shopping. We went in this one store, we bought so many things-towels, flashlights, batteries, canned food- and we had trouble going home because it was raining really hard(we live up the mountain, so water was coming down like crazy!). Then, when we finally got home, as my siblings were sorting out the groceries, my mom goes- "Oh gosh! How are we going to cook the canned foods when the power goes off?!?!?!" So, my brother and dad went to buy a stove that runs on gas.

When the rain finally settled, my dad, brother and I went to board up the house. When we got to the kitchen windows, I saw bees swarming around. I stepped back, and yelled, "Dad! Bees!!". My brother, who was holding the board while my dad was hammering, (bro's terrified of bees) dropped the board on my dad's foot and ran away, screaming his head off. I... went behind my dad, who grabbed the board and hit the nest down, and we both got away from there. All of a sudden, I hear my brother yelling in pain.
My dad and I went to him, and we saw him on the stairs of the backdoor. He was covering his face and holding unto his shoulder. My dad told him to let him see the stings, and.... oh gosh.... *cough cough*. It was disgusting, but hilarious. Lol. I'm sorry... his eye was swollen shut, and he took of his shirt, his shoulder was swollen also. When I saw his eye, I just yelled out,"WHOA!". My dad then told my brother to go in the house and let mom handle the stings. After all that, I went to get this bee repellent, killed the bees, and went back to boarding up the house.

Well, I don't know what happened at night because I went to sleep early. All I know is that my mom was listening to the radio, older sister is using the computer, and the others sleeping, so..... :)

The next day, I woke up, and I'm all like, "Is that sun??? What?!?!" Then, my mom said that Evan turned away from us, then smacked me on the head for leaving her up all night. Lol.
So... let me get this straight.... we did all that shopping and boarding for nothing?!?! Man!

I was going to put this in the next post, but, eh... I'll just put it together.

Finals

I think I failed my Science and World Geography finals. I told my English teacher about the Science test and she goes, "Did you even study?".
Me: Uh, yeah.. sorta... kinda... a little bit... not really... eh.. no.
I answered the easy ones and guessed the hard ones. There was also this question that we didn't even discuss about! It goes, "Parasitism, (and some other-lisms that I can't remember because they were really long), are examples of?" And I'm all like, "What in the world?!" My brain that time (----------------) BZZZ...

My friend Rebecca didn't have to take the World Geography final because the teacher said, "If you've done good from the beginning, you don't have to take the finals." I went up to my teacher after class and asked her-
Me: I didn't do good from the beginning??
Teacher: Kim, you've scored low on the first project we did, you failed to turn in your make-up works, and you've been absent a lot. So, does that sound like you did good?
Me: Oyy....

When Cyclone Evan came to American Samoa, I thought it was like going to take like about two weeks or a month. Since the cyclone went, I had to take the finals.... ugh!! I was kinda hoping for it to take that long so I wouldn't have to take it.... you know what I think? Why Cyclone Evan didn't hit us?
It was because Evan found out we had finals. So he goes, "Oh man, American Samoa didn't do their finals yet. I'll just head on back...". Who knew that Evan cared about our education? Stupid hurricane!!!

The world ending?
What an idiotic theory. Everyone should know that God is the only One who knows when the world's gonna end. What retards....

Christmas Break
Well, Christmas break officially starts on Monday. I can't wait! I can finally wake up at any time I want. No more finals, no more drama, and most importantly, no more cafeteria food! I know that I should be thankful for the food, but I just don't want to eat!
I'm going to miss school that's the only place where I get to be with my friends. My friends.... I miss them already. Wonder what they're doing.....

November

Well, a lot of things happened in this month. There was White Sunday, my school's turkey run, Thanksgiving, International Day, and the Young Writers Contest.

White Sunday:

White Sunday was my little sister's day. She was well prepared for that day. She put on her pretty white dress, her shoes, and all those accessories. I wasn't there, but I'm pretty sure she looked better than all the other girls. Lol.

Turkey Run:

Another event that I didn't go to.... eh. The turkey run started at, I think 4 or 5 in the morning. I think you run around the whole village of Vailoa(it's really big!!). Yeah..... Anyway, I heard that a man participating in the turkey run passed away.

Thanksgiving:

Well... didn't do anything for this one. All we had was just a big feast, that was it.

International Day:
This was a crazy day! The theme for International Day was, "My Colorful South America". We gathered information about the countries and made food from them. The countries were Venezuela, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, and Colombia. We even danced to South American music. Wait, let me start from the beginning.....
Each period works on a country. There are 3 categories- presentation, food, and entertainment. My period worked on the country Venezuela, and I got put into the entertainment. International Day was 3 periods long(it was a Friday, so we start from 6th period, and we did it in the Cafeteria). Presentations were on the left side, food was on the right side, and entertainment in the middle. We danced to four songs. The first one was "Suavemente", by Elvis Crespo, don't know the second song, "Conga" by some lady, and "Macarena". For the first song, we partnered up. The second was the boys' dance. The third was the girls' dance. Then the last one was all of us.
I think I did good. I really hated the dance. I could have been absent, but I only did it because I needed the grade.
I danced to "Suavemente" as if I was with the guy of my dreams, I danced to "Conga" as if I was trying to impress him, and I danced to "Macarena" as if he kissed me and I got super high! (drunk girl in love coming through!!!)
Anyway! Before we started, I found this notebook on the floor. I didn't know the owner, but I knew the teacher, so I went and put it in my bag. I then saw this world teacher sitting on the table eating some of the food. I went up to her and- the music was really loud, soo....-
Me: HEY AMBER!!!
Amber: HI!
Me: HOW'S THE FOOD?!
Amber: IT'S GOOD.
**awkward silence, i'm looking around**
Me: LATER!!
Amber: BYE.
Haha! That was so weird.... lol
Yeah, so after International Day, I went to return the notebook with a friend. I didn't even get to taste any of the food! :'(

Young Writers Contest:

I WON! YEAH!! Well, not for the school or island-wide. Just for the 9th grade..... All the other essays were about serious issues, and my essay was about a talking pencil! Ridiculous, aye? I told my mom the same thing, but she said, "It's not ridiculous, it's creative." Yeah... I love my mom :)

My talking pencil
My teacher gave me back my notebook yesterday. She left a note saying, "Work on your handwriting! I could barely understand it!". There's nothing wrong with my handwriting! I looked in my notebook and scanned my handwriting. It does look sloppy and hard to comprehend, but what can I do about it?
I tried writing slowly, but it takes up so much time. Then, as I was writing, something weird happened. "Hey, I see the problem!" an unknown voice said.
"Who said that?" I asked curiously.
"Down here!" It said again.
I looked down, and it was my pencil talking! "You have to tilt the notebook, girl! It's easier to write with the notebook slanted. Oh, and make the letters a little bigger!" my pencil said.
I was freaked out for sure, but I gave it a try, and my handwriting looked better. "Whoa! Thanks!" I said with gratitude.
I gave the teacher my notebook to show her my improved handwriting, and she was surprised! "This is so much better! Good work!" she said to me.
So, from that day on, my pencil continued to help with my writing, and I continued to get awesome grades. I always put my pencil back in my bag after using it, but today, I could not find it. I rummaged through my bag-nothing! I can't believe I lost it! I took out a spare instead and said to it, "You better say something!"

October

In this month, I've been absent for more than a week due to food poisoning and a massive headache. You wouldn't believe how many times I threw up! The colors changed every time... lol! sorry...

06 October- 8:06am (that's right, i look at the clock!)
It's so hot in here!! Oh, which reminds me,
 In Algebra Class:
Teacher(she's one of the world teachers): Gosh, it's so hot!
Me: Welcome to Samoa. :)

Who loves the Doodle Bops?! THIS GIRL! ME! THAT'S RIGHT! I LOVE MOE!! Hahahaha!
Don't care what my age is... my childhood was the BOMB because of them! :D

Teen Titans! Can't forget about this show! Raven's my favorite!

08 October- don't know the time... too lazy to check...
I was watching "SpongeBob SquarePants" with my siblings. The episode was about a wishing well. SpongBob is down there collecting money, and Patrick fell down. Later, Squidward comes and falls down too. Squidward says he's claustrophobic.
Patrick: What does claustrophobic mean?
SpongeBob: It means he's afraid of Santa Claus.
Patrick: HO HO HO!
SpongBob: STOP IT PATRICK, YOU'RE SCARING HIM!
We were laughing our butts off! :D

My friend Lua looked up some funny quotes, and these are her favorites.
"If your boss is getting you down, look at him through the prongs of the fork and imagine him in jail."
"Love is like a booger- you keep picking at it until you get it then wonder what to do with it."

The best games I've played on a PlayStation 2 were "Metal Gear Solid 2","Metal Gear Solid 3", "God of War", and "God of War 2". Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 are military games. So cool! God of War and God of War 2 involve the Greek gods. (Greek mythology) Really awesome!
I miss these games so bad.... my brother murdered the game system, so no playing games anymore. Look on the bright side, I can.... *sniff* now study! Haha! *tears*

I just found out that an NFL player makes more money than a soldier! What the?! NFL players are just playing a football game! The soldiers are out there fighting for our freedom and they make more money?!?!

10 October- 5:33am
I was going to come to school today, but my mom needs help with stuff, so I guess I'll be absent again. *sigh* I wonder how everyone's doing. Especially Rebecca. I miss that girl so much! I miss my teachers too, but mostly my English teacher. The other teachers are a bunch of meanies, but my English teacher is kind and... haha! I've been missing JLAB(online competition for J.R.O.T.C cadets around the world, training)! I bet my instructor kicked me out. No!! He can't do that! I'm the best on the team! Okay... hopes up!! :D

11 October- don't care what time it is!
This morning
I missed seminary, so I got ready for school. Put on my J.R.O.T.C uniform, fixed my hair, put on my shoes, but then...
Mom: Kim, I need you to stay today because Anderina's (little sister) not going to school.
Me: WHAT?! WHY?!?!
Mom: I have to take her shopping. (buy her shoes for White Sunday. all the stores are busy in the afternoon because of White Sunday, so my mom said it's better to go in the morning)
So I went with them to buy her shoes, but on our way back, we got ice-cream! *sigh* I was so looking forward to going to school today! I know I missed a lot of work. Man...

12 October- 12:32pm
Just got back from the hospital.
(Alex) My older brother had an appointment with the dentist. His number was 9, so we were waiting for his number to be called. #8 was called. After him, #10, #11, and I'm all like, "What happened to 9?!?! C'Mon!" My mom went in and complained, and finally, Alex went in. Waited...... waited....
All of a sudden, we hear him coughing. Mom: What's he choking about? Me: *laughs*
Finally! He comes out, but covers his mouth. We got out, and my mom asked why's he covering his mouth. He moves his hand, but there's nothing wrong. "Eh! There's nothing wrong, it's just numb."
I felt sorry for him, because on our way back, my mom and I had ice-cream, and he didn't. The dentist said he can't eat anything cold. I was rubbing my ice-cream in his face!
Okay, I end my journal here. Can't wait to go to school on Monday!

17 October
What do you think when you see your enemy do something good? This is my thought:
"Wow, the demon has a heart after all."

I hate it when people spell LiKe ThIs To LoOk CoOl.

Rebecca wanted to prank call her friend but she didn't know the number. *sigh*

I LOVE MY DAD SO MUCH!
When he gets hurt, like a cut on his hand, I would start tearing up. When he coughs, I would get him a cup of water and rub his back.
He's outside right now, clearing debris with his bare hands, and here I am lying in bed because of a headache. Dang it, there are gloves on the table and he doesn't bother wearing them! "F" this headache, I'm going to go help him! He better wear these gloves!
I went out to help him and he wore the gloves! After we cleared some of it, we went to the store to buy some ice-cream, and we ate some. :)
   Ice-cream's the best!

22 October
I can only do 20 push-ups?! I suck!! At least I did better than the Task Force Commander. She died at 1.

My birthday(10/30) was a blast! My friends wished me a happy birthday, my family sang the "Happy birthday" song to me, and UNLIMITED ICE-CREAM AND CAKE! It was a crazy day. Hahaha!

On October 1st, it was my English teacher's birthday. She's a world teacher, and the students do NOT  listen to her. On that day, the whole class wasn't listening to her- they were all talking, playing- then I yelled, "Shut up!" out loud. Yeah, that didn't work of course. So, I yelled out, "Today's Kristina's birthday! Today's Kristina's birthday!!" **silence**
Then the students went up to her, wished her a happy birthday, made her wear the headband that said "Happy birthday" on it, and this one student wrote "Happy birthday Kristina" on the board. After that, they all sat down and started behaving well. I heard one student say in Samoan, "Hey! Let's be good today 'cause it's her birthday." What? You're gonna be good today just because it's her birthday? Uhh... what about like, EVERYDAY?!

September

Even though it's December, I'm going to blog about the past months. I have a journal that I've been writing in for English class. So, I'm going to put my journal in here!! :D

09 September.
How is high school different from elementary?
Back in 8th grade, if you come to late to class, you can just come inside and sit down. But in high school, you have to go get a tardy slip. In elementary, you have homerooms. There are no homerooms in high school. We also did not have elective classes. It was a must to take all the classes. We wear the school's uniform everyday(except for Thursdays, wearing the J.R.O.T.C uniform), but back in 8th grade, we wear the uniform everyday except for Wednesdays. Everyone in high school eats at the same time, but in elementary, we eat by levels like, 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8. I'm a Mormon, so I have to go to seminary, which is 6:00am!! I didn't have to go to seminary in 8th grade! DO YOU KNOW HOW TIRING IT IS TO WAKE UP AT 5 IN THE MORNING?!?! sorry... Also, we didn't have breaks or class meetings. We would just have lunch. There are a lot more differences, but I'm just naming some.
(even though waking up for seminary is tiring, i love my religion)

The class watched an episode of the show "60 minutes", called "Football Island". We were supposed to write a summary about the episode, but I was absent, so my English teacher said I can write about anything. So, I've named this essay, "My friends".

27 September.
                             My friends

My friends are the best. They help me with my work, they make me laugh, and they are very fun to talk to. I have four awesome friends.
My friend Rebecca is funny and weird(if you read my last post, she's the one that's BEYOND the weird limit). She goes crazy when she eats chocolate. If she was in an awkward situation, the first thing she would do is poke people in the arm. Some in the face. She loves hugging people! If she offers a hug, back away immediately.
My other friend is Benny. She has a higher rank than me in J.R.O.T.C., which makes me mad every time I see her. I think she cheats whenever we play card games. I don't know how she wins, but I'm sure she cheats!
Then there is Lua. She is forgiving but has violent thoughts. When she's angry, she doesn't show it, but she makes a list of people she hates and wants to beat up. She shares her thoughts a lot with me, and this is one of them- "I just want to beat her up then run her over with a monster truck."
And the last one, Ambika. She's kind and innocent. She doesn't like hearing inappropriate things or watching violent stuff. She watches anime cartoons and I enjoy quizzing her on some.

The beginning

It took forever to create this but, it's now done. *sigh* Well, this is WAY better than keeping a journal!

Now in high school as a Freshman, I'm doing great! I've already achieved some of my goals:

  • Become one of the class officers (SECRETARY!!!)
  • Join the J.R.O.T.C. program. (I'm a Private, soon to be Corporal)
My goal in the program is to become the Task Force Commander. My sister nor my brother have reached this rank, so it motivates me to do better than them. As for being the secretary of the Freshmans, I just have to show up to meetings, take notes and the attendance. This position is easy-peasy. ;)

I've made lots of new friends, but I still miss my old ones. I have one friend who is like BEYOND the "weird" limit. She's awesome, funny, huggable!

What it's like at my school:

  • There's SO much drama!
  • There are so many crews (the crews are based on which village they live in)
  • Everyone has a place to chill with friends.
  • Students call other students "N.F" if you're a loner. (No friend)
  • A lot of fighting goes on. (football players are involved in most of them)
  • No respect for the world teachers. Some respect them, though.
  • Seniors love power.
On the first day of school(August 13th), I was super nervous! The day started with an assembly in the gym. We sang the Samoan and national anthem, then a hymn and said the prayer. Then, the vice principal and the principal said a few words, welcomed everyone, and then everyone was separated by grade, going to the 4 corners of the gym to pick up their schedules. This is my schedule:
First period: Algebra 1
Second period: General Science(I had low scores from elementary, so they put me in this class)
Third period: English 124
Fourth period: World Geography
Fifth period: J.R.O.T.C(ECHO company rules!!)
Sixth period: Health/P.E.

What's cool about my schedule is that I don't have to worry about being late to class because they're not that far away. In first period, we played a game to break the ice. We say our names and 3 things about you(one lie and 2 true things), then the class has to guess which one's the lie. My 3 things:
1). My favorite subject is Samoan
2). I'm weird
3). I'm clumsy
The lie? #1. I suck at Samoan!
For general science, we introduced ourselves. We skipped third period because the bell rang late. For my fourth, fifth, and sixth period- introductions. I said the same things over and over and over and over and...... *sigh*

I had so much trouble finding my classes. The only class that was easy to find was my sixth period. Because... it's in the gym! Lol. As for my other classes, I went up to random people and asked, "*points to the class on my schedule* do you know where this class is?".

My friends on the first day are seniors. My brother's a senior, so he introduced me to his friends. On that day, I was N.F., so my brother and his friends came over to accompany me. On the second day of school, I made some friends. I met my best friend in English class. We have so much in common! Sometimes, we'd say things simultaneously, and laugh out loud, then other people would be like, "Hey! Shut up!".

Haha! I'll never forget my first day. :)
